Booting Process

Introduction to the booting process.

The booting is the process of starting a computer. The whole process from power switch ON to operating system is called booting. In booting the system will check all the hardware and installed software & it will also load all the files which are required to run the system.

Types of Booting

There are generally two types of booting in the computer.

• Cold booting
• Hot booting

Cold booting: When a computer that is already shut down is started, this process is called Cold Booting.

Warm booting: When a running computer is restarted, this process is called Warm Booting.

Booting process is a program which works through BIOS.

What is BIOS?

BIOS means Basic Input Output System.

It helps in the functioning of all input/output devices. Apart from this, it also helps in starting the work of all the devices during the boot process.
